Coming from Austin get on Loop-1 North, Follow TX-1 Loop N, US-183 N and Route 183A N to US-183 N in Leander. Take TX-29 W to Farm Rd 243/N Grange St in Bertram. Turn left onto TX-29 W/W State Highway 29 and take a left onto Farm Rd 243/N Grange St.
Things To Do In Bertram, TX
The city is known for the train depot that was restored by the Austin Steam Train Association. The steam train ride from Cedar Park to Bertram on the seasonal Bertram Flyer is a journey back to yesteryear from March to November. Some trips feature a murder mystery to entertain passengers. Another of Bertram’s claims to fame is the Oatmeal Festival. Sponsored by 3 Minute Oats and created to literally put the town of Oatmeal back on the Texas map, it is a spoof on the traditional Texas Chili Cook Off. There are numerous other festivals and celebrations in the area year round.
Fishing and watersports are very nearby at the Highland Lakes. Boat tours, camping, hiking, horseback riding and other outdoor activities are in abundance throughout Burnet County. Either for the day or for the summer, outdoor accommodations are plentiful.
Shopping can be found in surrounding communities within a 20-30 minute drive. There are local retailers in Bertram, smaller convenience stores, gift shops, feed and supply, a bank and antique and gift shops.
